WWDC 2016, we are expecting it to be Apple’s this year annual Moses moment – when developers gather to see what Tim Cook’s got on his Smart device.
Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016, which will start on June 13, is one of the promising and interesting ones. There we will not only see new versions of Apple’s OSes, but we are likely to see few of the important new hardware too. Let’s see what to expect at Apple’s WWDC 2016:
MacBook Pro 2016
The MacBook has just been refreshed, so the MacBook Pro is the next for an update. One of the most obvious updates for the MacBook Pro 2016 is to leverage Intel’s Skylake processors, which are already in PC rivals.
MacBook Air 2016
Already the MacBook Air is overdue for an update. And, it’s still on Broadwell processors while rivals run much faster and more efficient Skylakes. Hence, the announcement of a MacBook Air 2016 is likely.
Last years, multiple reports predicted a “critical refresh” of the Airs in mid of 2016, which include Retina displays, USB-C, Skylake processors and the end of the 11-inch model. However, there’s a great deal of uncertainty over the Air’s future.
Apple Watch 2
At WWDC 2016, a fairly new version of watchOS is expected and leaks suggest that a new and a thinner Apple Watch 2 is also on the cards. However, we don’t expect it to look critically different – there’s already a whole ecosystem of screen protectors, stands and expensive straps, thus, it’s a bit early for Apple to think in a favor of a new design. But the internals are expected to be significantly enhanced. The most enticing rumor is stated by the Wall Street Journal, according to which, Apple Watch 2 will have its own cellular modem, too.
iOS 10
We can expect, iOS 10 at WWDC launch in late Summer beta and Autumn release. And, we are expecting it to drop support for the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Not least because we thought they would get the bullet last year. Among all the Apple products, at WWDC 2016, iOS 10 will be one of the most attention grabbing releases.
macOS / OS X 10.12
Are we in the end of the OS X name? – It seems to be more than a retro flashback. And, that’s why OS X doesn’t fit with the current Apple OS convention that actually spans watchOS, tvOS and iOS, and Apple’s latest update to its environmental page described as macOS, not OS X.
Apple TV
Apple TV is Apple’s long-rumored streaming TV service that might be ready for the peak time this year, when Apple is doing a Netflix and making some of its own tools and programs.
However, the service is expected to be available across Apple TV and iOS devices. And, with an announcement at WWDC 2016 and launch of tvOS is expected in September.
Beats Radio
Apple has trademarked Beats 2 through 5, however as ever with trademarks that doesn’t mean it has any future plans to use them. Some non-music programming would be enticing and interesting, though: we quite dive an audio equivalent of Apple’s News app.
Apple Pay
Undoubtedly, Apple Pay is doing some big numbers, and that’s why Apple is keen to expand its enticement. One of the most appreciated launches of Apple, which is apparently in development, and Bank of America, Chase and Wells Fargo have been leveraging Apple Pay support in their ATMs, too. And, that’s potentially huge, because Apple Pay is much more secure than a PIN.
Mac Pro
Since two years, Apple has not done the last update. And, its looking as if Apple doesn’t love it any more. For many people the iMac with Retina 5K display is much more than adequate, and cost-effective, too than a Mac Pro plus a third-party 5K display.
Mac Pro being the Apple’s most powerful computer. And, for professionals, too whose apps can use its ground-breaking horsepower so that speed bump courtesy of new, Skylake Xeons could be welcomed.
New iPads, new iPhones and the Apple Car
Apple has just launched the iPhone SE and the iPad Pro. Recently, Apple has launched the iPhone SE and the iPad Pro 9.7. And, one of the worst kept secret in tech is Apple’s Project Titan car. This year, Tim Cook has promised amazing innovation from Apple. And, we don’t think that he’ll come on the stage in an Apple Car, by pulling the handbrake. Although it’d be very funny if he did so.
