The first release, was announced in March and currently on its second phase (and mostly stable) beta, brings new features an improved notification bar and split-screen multitasking to the mobile OS, also improving on features like Doze that came last year with Marshmallow.
Split Screen multitasking window
With this new feature you can use two different apps on the same screen which will not only help in working with two apps simultaneously like video apps will support picture-in-picture mode but also providing ease to the user. This is a popular feature you will find in the Samsung and LG handsets which they have incorporated in their custom skins.
Notification
This new feature will provide you to directly reply from the notification window to an incoming message There is also something called ‘Bundled Notifications’ which means grouped notifications can be expanded into notifications by tapping the new expansion button or a two-finger gesture.
Reducing RAM usage
Project Svelte is an ongoing effort by Google to reduce the RAM use by system and apps across the range of Android devices in the ecosystem. In Android N, Project Svelte is focused on optimizing the way apps run in the background. This feature will also improve the battery life of the handsets.
Doze
Doze was first introduced with Marshmallow which in other words means that it will improve the standby time of the device. Android Nougat is going to help company’s energy-saving software techniques by focusing on Doze Mode so that it thoroughly limits background tasks whenever the screen is turned off.
Daydream
This google’s new VR platform it will only supported by Daydream handsets. It will support Google Play, Streetview, Photos, Youtube and Google Movies. Daydream is expected to be released this fall, so it is unlikely to be included in the initial Android N devices.
