Ever thought of getting an opportunity to try an iOS app before subscribing it? If so, here’s a good news for you!

After revamping App Store and changing guidelines, Apple has now made a new section in the app store, “Try it for Free”, that can be found under the ‘Apps’ section in the Apple’s App Store and has only four apps right now – 1Password, Panna: Videos Recipes & Classes, USA Today, and Lake: Coloring Books.

Apple touts to offer free trials for all the aforementioned iOS apps in this new section. For example, Apple highlights the 30-day free trial for the annual membership of 1Password app. If you select the free trial, a ‘Subscription offer’ screen will appear in front of you that indicates how long the trial will run, the subscription rate after the trial and ways to download the application.

In other words, for iOS applications not being installed on your device, tapping on the ‘Free Trial’ button will take you to the subscription offer page that empowers you to download and subscribe in one-step. Whereas, choosing the same button will open taking you to an in-app payments page if app already installed.

As per the experts, the introduction of this new section is an effort by Apple to promote its subscription-based applications as a new business model for the iOS app developers and provide a better experience to the users. The developers would get an opportunity to reach a wider range of target audience and increase the conversion rates. Whereas the users would find it easier to try the apps before paying the complete amount.

However, there is a peril of this service. The new section shows all the annual, monthly as well as weekly subscriptions together, which means you have to keep the frequency of subscription plan into consideration themselves. In case you forget to cancel the trial within the time limit, you would end up being charged even if you are not using that app anymore.
